Department Profile

The Department of Management Sciences was started in the year 1995. The mission of the department of Management Sciences is to prepare young men & women for careers in management, in industry, business & government by equipping them with right attitude and value system in life, strong diagnostic and analytical skills and sharp inquisitive minds that are capable of raising searching questions for valid answers. The faculty uses pedagogic tools to make learning affective and comprehensive. Besides the department places special emphasis on guest lectures by eminent executive and senior faculty from the professional institutes of management at the national level. The academic programme of the MBA under the semester mode centers around the core and advanced courses in chosen areas of specialization spread over a two year period. The objectives of the curriculum are achieved using various pedagogical strategies such as lectures, case discussions, role plays, group discussions, business quizzes, guest lectures and seminars. In addition to the compulsory papers in semester III and IV, a student shall have to choose dual fields of specializations, out of three offered. Financial Management, Marketing Management and. Organizational Behaviour & Human Resource Management.

Research and Other Academic Activity:- Three of our Senior faculty have been recognized as Research Supervisors, to supervise the research leading to Ph.D and M.Phil Programmes of Acharya Nagarjuna University & also other universities in Andhra Pradesh since 2005. Some of their research students have got their Ph.D and M.Phil degrees under their guidance and currently some are pursuing their research.

National Conferences & Seminars: - The Faculty participate in National & International Conferences & Seminars actively both as Participants and also as Resource Persons for the technical sessions.

Faculty Development Programmes: - Since inception all the faculty members are encouraged to participate in Faculty Development Programmes conducted by IIM's and other Management institutes of repute all over India.

Intake: - The Department was started in the year 1995 with an intake of 30 students and after that in the year 1999 the intake of the students was increased to 60, after that in the year 2007 the intake was increased to 90. Later in the year 2011 the intake of the students was increased to 120.

Events: - The Department organises the Peter F Drucker Memorial Lecture every year since 2005 in order to commorate the memory of the Father of Modern Management Peter Ferdinand Drucker by inviting eminent speakers from Business Industry or Academic to deliver the lecture.

MANMEET: - This is a prestigious annual event of the Department, "The Ramarayudu Memorial Management Meet (State Level B-schools Meet)". This meet is organized since 1999 every year in fond rememberance of Late. Sri.Ramarayudu garu the Founder Secretary & Correspondent of the college.

Guest Lecture Programmes: - To narrow down the gap between the theory and practice , the Department organizes Guest Lectures by practicing business executives and eminent academicians from more reputed institutes of Management as a part of the academic programme.

Summer Internship: - For the award of the MBA Degree, it is mandatory for the student to undergo summer internship with a reputed business/industrial house, for a period of eight weeks at the end of the first year under the supervision of a senior faculty in the department and a senior manager at the host company. The objective of the internship training is two - fold. It gives an exposure to the students of the corporate world and an opportunity to guide better insight into the working of an organization and to test out the application of management concepts in the real world business context that the candidate has picked up during the course of the programme. The candidate has to take a viva - voce examination at the end of the second year based on the course he/she has done during the programme and the report on the summer internship.

Short Visits: - The students of the MBA Degree Programme are taken on short visits to Industrial units located in the area during the course of their study period with the primary purpose of exposing them to the world of practice and for acquiring firsthand knowledge of the state of the art of Management, the way business problems are identified and analyzed and decisions arrived at in the real world situations, such that they appreciate better the relevance of class room exposure through executive interaction.

Training & Placement: - About 50 renowned industries / IT Organizations regularly visit the college to recruit the final years for employment. A training and placement department monitors recruitment, short term training and personality development programmes. During the last few years the campus recruitment steadily grew to over 400. Since 2002, HDFC Bank Ltd regularly visits the college to recruit the final year students for Campus Selection.

Industry - Institution Interface: - Memorandum of Understanding with HDFC Bank Ltd. On 6th August 2009, Mr. Jerry Tauro The Senior Manager Resourcing and Campus Relations and the Management of R.V.R. & J.C College of Engineering represented by the Principal Dr. P.S.Sankara Rao signed an MOU for conducting Joint Certification Program - Retail Module Personal Banking to impact key skills to students of MBA Course at the campus and empower the students to meet Industry expectations and familiarise themselves with organization culture
